Silver Jubilee Reunion on 27th December, 2014

The alumni of the 1989 batch of St. Thomas school, Ranchi celebrated their Silver Jubilee Reunion on 27th December, 2014 in their school premises. The spotlight was on their old teachers, whom the alumni contacted and invited to be the guests of honor.

A meeting after 25 years of leaving the school brought back fond memories to the students. Snigdha Nair, Supriya Kerketta and Arup Banerjee the organizers of the event, spoke about how they along with few others made the reunion a reality. “We started getting together in small group in 2012. We shared contact details of other friends and developed a network of alumni. We have been working towards the silver reunion ever since. We met the School Principal Rev. Moni Mathew and discussed about the reunion. We are grateful to him to help us organize the meet in the school campus. With the help of batch mates, seniors we got numbers of our teachers who had retired. The teachers were pleasantly surprised to receive the invite from us.”

With 15 old students few with their family making it to the reunion along with 10 old teachers (retired now), it was time to rewind, recall and relive their school days. Flashing pictures of yesteryears on the LCD, the students almost forgot that they were now working executives, parents and revelled in the past as children.

The Current Principal of the School, Rev. Moni Mathew addressed the gathering and welcomed the students. He said the aim of the alumni meet was to reconnect, re-establish relationship with friends, share and affirm the values learned during school days, to promote social activity and information, to support and aid the growth of the institution and coordinate activities. He also congratulated the ‘89 batch for having fulfilled most of these aims, and thanked the alumni of ’89 batch for getting the walls of the KG classes of St.Thomas school adorned as their endowment to the school and also providing the educational aids to Gramjyothi School in Sakhuwa Bagan and at Kully village.

The alumni also felicitated their old teachers and thanked them for shaping their lives. The teachers returned the gesture with kind words. Also felicitated the Non Teaching Staff (who served during their school time).
The event was a grand success with gathering of alumni from across the country and abroad. The member's were overjoyed with emotion and were very happy visiting the school & meeting old friends, sharing views and experiences, school life & mentors.

Alumni said that they have attained great positions under different operations within the country and abroad only because of the values they have learned at the school, the foundation of their life. Both the days (27th & 28th Dec,2014) the alumni were thrilled on the occasion of Silver Jubilee Celebration.
