ANNUAL SPORTS AND ATHLETICS MEET 2024-2025 : A REPORT
The 44th Annual Sports and Athletics Meet held on 7th December 2024 brought boundless energy and infectious enthusiasm . The Chief Guest for the occasion was Mr. Manoj Lakra Director, Personnel of H.E.C . The Guests of Honour were Rev. Anix Johnson ,Principal of St. Thomas
School,Hardag, Rev. Ashwin Jacob Thomas ,Principal of St.Thomas School , Kulli , Mr. Binju Abraham, Secretary, MTES, Mr. Jessu Mathew, Treasurer , MTES .The occasion was honoured by our Principal Rev. Dr.M.O.Oommen Jr. ,Vice Principal ,Mrs. Susan Oommen and Ex –Teachers. The welcome speech was delivered by Mrs. Reena Mohan , the Sports Day Incharge .The Chief Guest alongwith Our Principal ,Vice Principal ,the Principals of St.Thomas School , Hardag and Kulli hoisted the school flag,a proud moment celebrating our shared values and aspirations and then lighted the ceremonial lamp .
The School Torch, symbolizing the ignition of passion , excellence , determination and unity , was lit by the National Level Players, Master Revant Patel of IX F and it was passed on to the young torch bearers, Master Aayan Raj of VIII D, Master Rudra Kumar of VIII D, Miss Blessy Angel Lakra of VIII D , Master Shalabh Kerketta of VIII G and Master Abhishek Tamang of VII G . The event kicked off with the majestic March Past by the pupils of classes 6 to 9, trained under the able guidance of Ms. Manha Maria Oommen , showcasing the school’s spirit and discipline.
The school had organized a number of action packed track and field events . For the first time ,Inter
School 4 x 100 Relay was organised among the schools of St. Thomas School of Hardag, Kulli , Dhurwa and Gramjothi School , Sakhua Bagaan . Adding grandeur to the event , was the prestigious marching bagpiper band that set the tone for the day leaving everyone in awe.
Various drills by classes 6, 7, 8 and 9 pupils , Rhythmic Yoga by classes 6 to 8 pupils kept the parents enraptured and mesmerized throughout. Mascots of all the four Houses i.e from Nehru ( Genie and Aladin ), Tagore ( Dr. Doom ), Kalam ( Red Riding Hood and the Wolf ) and Teresa ( Sindbad the Sailor and his Wife ) displayed their characters beautifully and truly justified them . Parents joined the fun with “Garland Race” for the moms and “Balloon Race” for the dads.
In the House competitions,Nehru House soared to victory and was declared the Overall House Champion . The 44th Annual Sports and Athletics Meet was a grand success under the stewardship of our Principal Rev. Dr.M.O.Oommen Jr., meticulous planning and guidance of Vice Principal Mrs. Susan Oommen and due to the cooperation and support of all the teachers , office staff , support staff and pupils. The programme was compered by Mrs. Monika Sood and Ms. Srikala Menon .
