Children’s Day was celebrated with great enthusiasm and fervour on November 9, 2024. The programme aimed to commemorate the birthday of Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru, the first Prime Minister of India, who was fondly known as Chacha Nehru.

The programme began with the school prayer followed by lighting of the ceremonial lamp and paying a tribute to Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru by  Hon’ ble Principal , Rev. Dr. M. O. Oommen Jr. and Hon’ ble Vice- Principal, Mrs. Susan Oommen.  

Ms. Atiya Sarwar of class V D, delivered a warm welcome speech to honour the presence of the audience in the auditorium. The tiny- tots of class II & class III presented a mesmerizing dance performance in which passion and energy were shone in every step.  Mrs. Manju Pandey highlighted the inspiring life of Pandit ji and his contributions towards making India a great and modern country, through her message on the occasion. Students’ choir of St. Thomas School, Dhurwa presented a melodious song ‘We shall overcome ‘ followed by a song wishing ‘Happy Birthday ‘ to their beloved Chacha Nehru. Pupils of classes IV & V  showcased a skit ‘ A Tribute to Chacha Nehru ‘ which reflected some true incidents from Nehru Ji’s life. The skit connected with the audience on a deeper level. Hon’ble Principal, Rev. Dr. M.O. Oommen addressed  the gathering with  informative and inspirational incidents from Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru’s life, which evoked a sense of admiration for Pandit Nehru. Teachers ‘ choir of the school sung an inspiring and patriotic song ‘ Insaaf ki dagar pe’ , through which the messages of truth, honesty and sacrifice were conveyed to the young audience.  

Rudransh Abhirup of class 5A, peesented ‘ Vote of Thanks ‘ to everyone who contributed towards the success of the programme. The celebration concluded with the benediction by the Hon’ ble Principal, Rev. Dr. M. O. Oommen Jr. , followed by National Anthem.  

The impeccable anchoring by Mrs. Manisha Prasad, seamlessly transitioned the segments. The programme was truly a cohesive and engaging experience for the audience.
