The name Jharkhand means ‘The land of Forests.’ Jharkhand’s foundation day is celebrated on November 15th. This day marks the formation of Jharkhand as the 28th state of India in the year 2000. Before becoming a separate state Jharkhand was a part of South Bihar. November 15th is also special as it is the birth anniversary of Birsa Munda, a respected tribal leader and freedom fighter. Jharkhand foundation day was celebrated in our School with lot of enthusiasm on 9th November 2024.
The programme was anchored by Mrs. Piyali Nandi and two students Master Anshul John
Kullu and Ms. Parul Linda of Std – VIII with the coordination of the programme in-charges
Mrs. Jagrani Kachhap, Miss. Anita Soren. The programme started with a welcome speech by Ms. Deepika J Kachhap followed by a prayer song by Teachers choir. This was followed by the lighting of the ceremonial lamp and a tribute was paid to Birsa Munda by our Esteemed Principal Rev. Dr. M.O.0ommem Jr., Honourable Vice Principal Mrs Susan Oommen, Honourable Mr. Binju Abraham, Secretary MTES.
Birsa Munda Dance Drama was performed by the pupils of classes V – VIII. Next the Karam festival was presented by the pupils of classes V – VIII. Karam festival, one of the most popular festivals of Jharkhand is related to the harvest and a tribute to the karam tree. This tree symbolizes fertility, prosperity and everything that is auspicious.
A very motivating message was given by Mr. Binju Abraham, Secretary MTES on how we all must contribute to Jharkhand’s development. Next was the melodious Nagpuri song presented by the Teachers choir followed by the slide show presentation depicting the development of Jharkhand by Ms. Ritu Priya.
Next was the traditional ramp show presented by the pupils of Std – KG to Std – VIII showcasing the Santhal Tribe. The pupils walked the ramp with their beautiful costumes with great poise and confidence. The show was highly appreciated by the audience.
A mesmerizing Santhali Dance was performed by the pupils of Classes VII- IX. The vote of thanks was given by Ms. Apeksha Kerketta of Std – VIII, followed by the National Anthem by Teachers choir.
I’m extremely grateful to all the Teachers for their support and enthusiasm in making the event a success I’m so thankful for the tremendous support and guidance provided by our Principal and Vice Principal .
